Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023

The first piece of my ‘artwork’ that I’m going to share with you comes from my work on Procreate, an app for the iPad. Just in time for Christmas, my favourite holiday! 

I am by no means an expert artist - not even close! But there’s something special about getting into the Christmas season by doodling. From my heart to yours, I wish you a very Merry and blessed Christmas. The season has so much to offer - from hope, to love, to gratitude, to peace.  

The birth of Jesus Christ into the world brings us joy - we are not alone in our struggles here. God’s love for us in sending us His Son to save us brings us hope and comfort.

I pray that you are surrounded by love this Christmas season. I pray that the joy of the holidays and the warmth of loved ones allows you to realize how blessed you are, and how much joy you bring to others. Take some time to let your family and friends know how special they are to you. Slow down and cherish the simple pleasures and blessings of life: from the roof on your house; to the hugs of your family; to the food on your table: to the comfort of your bed…

Christmas is a time to truly cherish the joys of life. Too often we are caught up in the hustle and bustle that we aren’t able to count how blessed we truly are. Christmas is a time for us to all stop and reflect on how precious we are to the Lord: He sent His Only Son to bring you joy, peace, hope, and encouragement.

Lessons from infants: 'Taking it all in'

Have you ever watched a baby look around the room, or jump their attention from one adult to another?Have you ever noticed how little infants, as they become more aware of their surroundings, take delight in staring at things around the room? Their eyes scan the room and 'take everything in'. If you observe these little ones, you will notice how interested they are in their surroundings.  When was the last time you stopped to notice what is around you? We often say 'stop to smell the flowers' or 'take in the sunshine'. But do you actually DO this?  Young children are learning about their environments; our eyes take in our surroundings and transmit these messages to the brain, where visual processing occurs. Eating Disorder Awareness Week! (EDAW)

This week is Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) . This is a week that pays special attention to increasing awareness about eating disorders: what they are, how they can be prevented and treated. and how to support others throughout their own journeys. Of course, raising awareness about ED should happen all year - but having a special week dedicated to the cause makes us more aware of the key issues. (P.S. Purple is the colour for Eating Disorder Awareness - so please try to wear purple or incorporate purple into your lives this week to show your support!) I have certain goals for EDAW. I hope that someone will hear of ED and know that it is a mental illness, and not a choice. That struggling with an eating disorder is a challenging, emotional, and painful experience - and not simply a quest to lose weight and be thin.
